Dear Friends of Justice,
IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU (ITCHY) NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT TO STOP THE POLITICAL NONSENSE WHICH IS PREVENTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CONSEQUENCES WHEN THE MOST POWERFUL PLAYERS IN AMERICAN JUSTICE- THE PROSECUTORS - BREAK THEIR OWN RULES OF CONDUCT AND DESTROY LIVES. YOU HAVE RULES OF CONDUCT- CORRECT?
In 2011, ITCHY was a group of wrongfully prosecuted individuals, defense attorneys and community activist’s battling the power of prosecutors in Albany, New York. Our mission was to reestablish the presumption of innocence of the accused until proven guilty. And to ensure that the accused receive all the evidence from the prosecutors which they are entitled to under law. At the time, it seemed like we were running against the wind.
Today ITCHY is a diverse coalition of everyday citizens, elected officials, labor, business, religious, and community leaders from every sector of the state. The breath of our message extends from the Borough’s, to the Hudson Valley, to Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. We are in communication with justice reform leaders across the country.
The wind is now blowing behind us, lifting the common-sense message that there must be Consequences for Prosecutors who engage in misconduct. Just as in every other profession.
The mission to establish the first state Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct has statewide bi-partisan support in both the NY State Senate and Assembly.
The mission is not complete. Powerful Prosecutors now descending on Albany, New York during the legislative session and working hard to kill accountability. Just as they did last June when the Senate and Assembly vote to establish the Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct was suddenly canceled at the last minute.
Become a part of this movement to stop this nonsense, stop growing prosecutorial misconduct and prevent wrongful prosecutions, which can destroy your lives.
